While computers are geting faster and faster, communications links
remain quite slow.  Evidently, slow links are still bothersome
to many users:

two-year old, entry-level Macintosh computer with a cheap, non-Apple
keyboard. People in most Third World countries don't even have 2400
baud modems. Even if they do, it's very unlikely they can get their
