I live in the Province of Ontario.  "Ontario" is an Indigenous word that means "Beautiful Lake" or "sparkling water".  It is home to 250,000 lakes, and holds about 1/5th of the world's freshwater.  It is also home to the world's largest freshwater lake, which holds 1/10th of the world's freshwater.

Our Great Lakes hold about 1/5th of the world's supply of freshwater,
and 84% of North America's supply of freshwater.
<p>
Tkaronto is the largest city on the Great Lakes and is also the capital of Ontario.
Thus we can say that Tkaronto is freshwater capital of the world.
<p>
Interestingly, our only beach access to freshwater within our
downtown core ("<a href=https://www.swimop.com/p/location.html>Downtown Tkaronto Urban Growth Centre</a>") is at a place called "Ontario Place", "West Island" which is currently under threat of being sold or leased to a foreign private corporation for 95 years.
