I live in the Province of Ontario. "Ontario" is an Indigenous word that means "Beautiful Lake" or "sparkling water". It is home to 250,000 lakes, and holds about 1/5th of the world's freshwater. It is also home to the world's largest freshwater lake, which holds 1/10th of the world's freshwater.
Our Great Lakes hold about 1/5th of the world's supply of freshwater, and 84% of North America's supply of freshwater.
Tkaronto is the largest city on the Great Lakes and is also the capital of Ontario. Thus we can say that Tkaronto is freshwater capital of the world.
Interestingly, our only beach access to freshwater within our downtown core ("Downtown Tkaronto Urban Growth Centre") is at a place called "Ontario Place", "West Island" which is currently under threat of being sold or leased to a foreign private corporation for 95 years.
