IPATS: Internet Packet Amateur Television Society
The mission of the Internet Packet Amateur Television Society is to:
- Provide training for a community of "cyborg" hobbyists equipped with wearable Internet Packet
Amateur Television transmitters.
- Support and generate interest and enthusiasm for the Amateur Radio hobby.
- Create a situation of emergency preparedness, so that, for example, during a natural disaster,
a community of "cyborgs" could continue to communicate with one another even during a massive
power outage. The recent massive power outage in Canada is a prime example. A community
of "cyborgs" communicating with voice, video, and data, can sustain such a power outage
and assist in the coordination of emergency medical attention, reporting of hazardous
conditions, etc..
The N1NLF Internet gateways were created a number of years ago to
support a community of "cyborg" hobbyists. The goal of the N1NLF gateway project was
to provide high-speed Internet "user ports" to a community of hobbyist
WearComp users.
